Scott Janzen
I studied journalism at Seattle University, receiving my BA
in 1978. But I was already employed before graduation. After
interning with the original Seattle Sounders, I joined the
public relations department in 1977 and spent three seasons with
the team. I moved on to the Pacific Science Center for three
years - ironically, I was a mediocre science student at WS - but
PSC made science fun for me.
I've spent most of my PR career in the advertising/PR agency
world, working for agencies of all sizes on more than 200
accounts - from travel to consumer products. I even had my own
firm twice (Janzen & Associates) until I realized I loved
creating campaigns and not running a small business.
I'm currently the Director of Communications for Trupanion.
We provide medical insurance for cats and dogs throughout the US
and Canada and insure more than 500,000 pets.
Got married in 1999 and divorced about five years ago, living
in a wonderful home in Magnolia I could never afford today. Not
sure marriage is in the cards again this late in life - but who
knows?
I tried stand-up comedy in the early 1980s and made the
semi-finals of the Seattle comedy competition. I've traveled
throughout the world, but my happy place is still the Oregon
Coast. Never get tired of it.
I'm sorry I won't be at the 45th reunion. I'm in rehab for
leg/nerve-related issues at the moment, but hope to be walking
again soon. Maybe I'll see you in five years...or sooner!
